Organize, Build Power and Win Justice
"The UAW - A Union for All Workers"
Updated On: May 03, 2009 (09:55:00)

The UAW is one of the largest and most diverse unions in America, with members in virtually every sector of the economy.  UAW represented workplaces range from multinational corporations to small businesses; from state and local governments to colleges and universities.  UAW members are factory workers, college instructors, office workers, aerospace workers, school bus makers, insurance workers, attorneys, agricultural implement workers, casino dealers, public employees and more.

For almost 75 years, the UAW has led the way in negotiating outstanding contracts for its members.  Ours is a history of firsts – the UAW negotiated the first fully funded pension plan, the first employer paid health insurance, the first paid health insurance for retired workers, and the first cost of living adjustments (COLA).

But the UAW is about more than just collective bargaining – we are a social movement committed to dealing with the problems of all working people.  Our union’s vision has always reached beyond the bargaining table to our role as citizens in a democratic society.
